Facebook said that the creators and influencers will now be able to tag items to sell them directly on posts and stories to their audiences.
In Facebook developer conference F8 in San Jose, the company unveiled these latest developments of Instagram. Over the coming weeks, people in the US will be able to checkout with the brands that are part of the Instagram checkout beta program.
For now, the product tagging was only being reserved for the businesses and brands. But, in the future individuals like content creators and influencers can use this feature to add checkout links to their stories and posts too.

Creators won’t be able to make commissions “for now”
According to Facebook, the creators won’t be able to make any commissions from the clicks on the links of their posts, “at this time.”
But, the term “at this time” may suggest that it will be possible to do that in the future.
For now, the creators (especially the influencers) can tag the products that they are talking about, providing more information to their followers. And, the creators can also receive insights and data for their tags, like engagement and shopping insights. And, these insights can help the influencers to find better advertising opportunities from the brands.
Instagram will continue the beta testing with a small group of influencers, like Kim Kardashian, Kris Jenner, and Kylie Jenner, etc., over the next few weeks.
