- Doing VA jobs
The above five methods are the best online income sources that anyone can work on. So, let us go through each of the methods from the above list and see the best way to make money online.
Start freelancing to make money online
Online freelancer is a self-employed worker. And, they work on gigs (short-term jobs) from different clients. They can define a price for their work depending on the service that they provide.
What are best freelancing jobs with a highest demand
- Graphic designing (Logos, flyers, posters, book covers, etc.)
- Website development and programming
- Writing, proof-reading, and translations (Blog posts, ebooks, whitepapers, etc.)
- Video editing and animations
- Digital marketing (SEO, Facebook advertising, social media marketing, etc.)
- Voice overs
- Business (Data entry, market research, consultations, etc.)
- Tutoring (languages, school curriculum, etc.)
How to start freelancing
First of all, you need some sort of skill to monetize. For example, if you are thinking of designing logos, first spend some time developing your logo designing skills. There are plenty of free tutorials and guides available online to learn such skills. Also, you can find plenty of professional on-demand tutorials, made by industry experts, on Learn from Fiverr as well.
Next, pick an excellent freelancing marketplace like Fiverr to start your gig. Check this video to learn everything you need to know about starting a successful gig on Fiverr (the link opens in a new tab).
Additional tips about making money as a freelancer
- Getting your first few clients is the hardest part. When I started logo designing on Fiverr, it took nearly four months to get my first client. Then, it took another month (as far as I remember) to get the second job. However, as the order count and reviews go up, it was all downhill from there.
- Customer-first. Freelancing marketplaces have a client-first approach. Keep that in mind, when working with demanding customers. One bad review can cost you many orders.
- Polish-up your skills. When you are selling your skills, you have to be really good at what you sell. That is how you get repeat clients.
- Don’t undersell. Some sellers charge a very low fee on those platforms. Don’t undersell your skills. Good quality clients pick a seller with the right price. Anyway, those who are trying to get work done for the lowest possible fee are the hardest clients to satisfy.
Dropshipping to make money online
Alright folks, now I have been running a couple of online dropshipping stores for years. And, I am making around $2k per month from both of these stores. Well, I have a day job and I don’t spend more than an hour or two every day to run those two stores. So, $2k per month is worth my time and effort.
What is dropshipping
Dropshipping is an easy way to run an online eCommerce store. When you dropship, you don’t have to keep the products you sell in stock. Instead, you only sell the product and pass on the sales order to a third-party supplier, who then packs and ships the order to your customer.
What are the products you can sell with dropshipping
You can sell anything. But, usually, products like phone cases, cheap jewelry, coffee mugs, clothes, pet toys, simple household gadgets do really well in dropshipping. Well, you can sell high-ticket dropshipping products as well. But, it is a lot trickier than selling low-cost products.
Where to find suppliers when dropshipping
Lots of beginners start dropshipping by re-selling AliExpress products. AliExpress is an online retail marketplace, where most of the sellers are from China. And, there you can find incredibly low-cost products that could be sold for a higher price to the USA and European customers. Also, there are many automation plugins and apps that make it quite easy to fulfill orders through AliExpress. So, if you are just starting up, AliExpress is a good place to source products.
However, as you scale up your business, you can start working with local manufacturers and wholesale suppliers to do dropshipping. This will help you to sell unique products, improve the shipping times, and to increase your profit margins.

My best advise to make money online from dropshipping
When I first started dropshipping, I didn’t know anything about digital marketing. And, I even ran ad campaigns blindly without proper targeting. So, I lost around $2000 in my very first try. Therefore, here is my best advice to make money online from dropshipping.
A successful dropshipping business depends on two things. First, you have to select the best products for dropshipping. Next, you have to build a robust dropshipping marketing strategy. If you know how to handle those two steps, you can build a successful dropshipping store to make money online. So, it is worth spending some time to learn them.
Make money online from a blog or a YouTube channel
I am making money online from this blog. To be specific, I make around $500 per month from this blog (update: 2020-June).
Well, I know that $500 is peanuts compared to what others are making. For example, my blogging mentor is making nearly $30k per month from his blog. But, my $500 a month is worth running this blog. Why? Because I only spend around 3 hours every WEEK to run this blog. That means this blog lets me make around $40 per hour, online.
If I compare that with my two dropshipping stores, where I make around $2k per month, I spend around 2 hours every day to make that $2k from my online stores. And, if you do the math, it is around $30 per hour. Also, running an online store can be a headache sometimes. But a blog, it is never a headache.
How to make money online from a blog
There are three best ways to make money from a blog.
- Affiliate marketing
- Selling digital products
- Having an eCommerce store
Make money from a blog by advertising
Running ads on your blog is a simple and effective way to make money online. If you have a blog with good quality content, you can apply to an ad network as a publisher. Once approved, you can drop their ad code on your blog and get paid. And, you can get paid for both the number of impressions (CPM) and clicks (CPC) on those ads.
I am using Google Adsense for this blog. Google Adsense doesn’t pay much. But, it is easier to apply as a new blogger. However, if you can get more than 25k sessions per month, you can apply for other ad networks like Mediavine to get higher payouts.
Make money with affiliate marketing
Affiliate marketing is a lucrative way to make money from a blog. With affiliate marketing, all you have to do is to promote a third-party product or service on your blog. However, you have to promote the products and services that are related to your niche for the best results. For example, in this blog, I am promoting four third-party services. And, if someone makes a purchase from those services using my links, I can get paid a commission without affecting their purchasing fee.
Promote only the services that you trust
Remember, the key to a successful blog is audience engagement. Your audience is what matters most. So, when you promote something on your blog, make sure only to promote the services that you truly trust. Otherwise, it would hurt your blog’s trustworthiness.

Selling digital products on your blog
This is another great way to make money from a blog. It might sound intimidating first, but if you know the right way to do it, it will unleash the true revenue potential of your blog. You can create eBooks, printables, Online courses, photos, graphics, apps, etc. on your blog to make money online. So, if you think that you have something valuable to share, perhaps it is a good idea to give it a try.
Having an eCommerce store
Having an eCommerce store on your blog is another best way to make money online. So, you can use the traffic to your blog to promote the products in your store. It is the same as opening a shop on a street with massive foot traffic. Now, what would happen if you open a doughnut shop near a police station? BAM! You can get more sales… Likewise, if you can open a store to sell products that can be interesting to your audience, you can increase the chances of making more sales.
You can use the same dropshipping strategy that we have discussed earlier to start an eCommerce store on your blog. Or, you can even start a print-on-demand business to create an eCommerce store on your blog.

Doing VA (Virtual Assistant) jobs to make money online
VA jobs are similar to Freelancing gigs that we have discussed at the very beginning of this guide. Most of the small businesses who cannot afford to have a full-time worker for certain tasks, tend to outsource their work to virtual assistants. So, if you are available to work online, you can support these businesses to start making a living online.
Apart from getting jobs from online marketplaces, you can even plenty of VA gigs from your local business communities as well. For example, when I was in college, I worked as a VA to make money by managing online listings for a couple of local hotels. Similarly, if you look around you can find such online jobs as well.

What I like about doing VA gigs is that it brings a recurring income every month. Once you do an excellent task for a business, usually you will get that task next month as well. So, unlike other freelancing gigs, here you don’t have to worry about finding new jobs every month.
How to get paid from local jobs
First, you can ask them to pay you on PayPal or through direct bank deposits. However, you can also ask them to offer you the job through a freelancing marketplace like Fiverr or Upwork.
